Alison Helm
Professor | Sculpture
Alison Helm received her MFA from Syracuse University and her BFA from the Cleveland
Institute of Art. Her work has been exhibited extensively at galleries,
museums, and sculpture parks throughout the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and
Mexico including the Cultural Center in Charleston, WV, the National Museum for
Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., the Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh, PA, and
the Huntington Museum, Charleston, WV. She has completed various sculpture
commissions including
Splendor of the Seas
for the deck of one of the largest cruise ships in the world owned by Caribbean
Cruise lines, and two commissions for the Clarksburg Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Professor Helm has received two NEA Grants for Underserved Artists,
the WVU Outstanding Research Award for Creative Activity (2001), and was nominated
for the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation Distinguished Scholar Award.
