Minor in Art History

Students who pursue degrees in other disciplines may find that the study of art history enhances comprehension of their primary field of study and permits them to achieve a broader and deeper understanding of cultural history. Several art history architecture courses have also been approved and can be used for the Minor.

The Art History Minor requires a considerable grasp of writing and research. The vocabulary and technical aspects of art historical writing and research are addressed in both the survey and in the upper-level courses.

Minor Requirements:

ARHS 120: Survey of Western Art I (3 credits)
ARHS 160: Survey of Western Art II (3 credits)

One of the following courses:
ARHS 240: Methods of Research in Art
ARHS 345: Modern Art Theory
ARHS SPTP: Classical Art Theory (3 credits)

Upper Division Art History Courses (9 credit hours)
