The School of Art and Design also offers several scholarship awards to entering freshmen and current art and design majors. These scholarships are a form of financial aid that help students pay for their education. Unlike student loans, scholarships do not have to be repaid. In order to receive and maintain an award, a student must plan to enroll as a full-time major in Art or be a current major in the School.
Scholarships awards are granted on the basis of outstanding talent, academic achievement (a 3.0 GPA minimum required), and demonstrated potential for success in the program. Awards from the School of Art and Design are not made on the basis of financial need; however, the receipt of a scholarship from the School of Art and Design may affect a student’s overall financial aid package. Recipients of other forms of financial aid who also receive a scholarship from the School of Art and Design should check with the WVU Office of Financial Aid to discuss the parameters of their complete financial aid package.
A number of cash awards are also available to entering freshmen and current art majors. All cash awards are applied toward the recipient’s tuition balance, with any excess being distributed to the student to use for other expenses associated with the cost of their education at WVU.Art and Design BFA Entrance Application
