Field Study

Jackson Hole

School of Art & Design students are encouraged to engage the world around them.

Over their course of study, we recommend students take at least one Global Positioning Studies course and are encouraged to explore art and study outside of the classroom as often as possible.

The School has also created international study abroad programs of the highest caliber, where groups of students, led by WVU faculty, study with master artists and teachers of the host country.

Experience the beauty of the Grand Teton Mountain Range in the Jackson Hole Photography Workshop, or explore the remote northern desert region of Chile in Space: Atacama. Learn centuries-old art-making traditions in China through our Ceramics in China or Painting in China programs. Study intricate and stunning craftsmanship in the Medieval Stained Glass in France course. Examine ancient ruins in Rome and modern Italian art in Milan through the Disegno Italia program. Immerse yourself in another culture and learn what no book or lecture can teach.
